Week 2

My internship is with Kennedy Design Build who is contracted out to work on the Thunderbird Tower Project out on Thunderbird School of Global Management’s campus. The project also has a project director, Will Counts who oversees every detail in every phase of construction and renovation of the tower. Drewett and brenden is the architecture group working on the project along with Kennedy Design and Will. For an actual construction site everyone and everything is extremely organized and we are even ahead of schedule. Will Counts, my supervisor and I all have offices out on the actual site at Thunderbird campus and drewett and brenden have their offices in downtown Phoenix. Communication plays a major role in helping every team and department in the loop and organized with current events happening on the project. I would say that the multidisciplinary concepts best fits my internship, the company, and the project. There are so many different things going on daily, everyone is assigned to complete and make sure it was done safe and right. Not only is Kennedy Design Build, Thunderbird School of Global Management also hired the general contractors to renovate two dorm halls which totals 56 rooms and 28 bathrooms, as well as 6 classrooms. Because of the amount of work and different duties that are out on the site and still left to complete, we have people doing all sorts of tasks. There is a lot going on however it is very exciting to be apart of something that you can watch be built, developed, and then finally used by students knowing that it is a completely sustainable and green building.
